I’ve been posting my favorite ‘Perfect’ albums on Instagram as part of Mike Montiero’s August challenge. Here is what I posted today.
perfect31 Day 24 of the @mikemonteiro perfect record challenge. Julie Doiron and the Wooden Stars. This is a winter record. This is a curl up with a blanket and don’t leave the house for weeks record. It seems strange listening to this in August. This was recorded in New Brunswick in late December early January 1998-1999, deep in the middle of a grey, cold Canadian winter, with many more months of cold and snow to come. Doiron’s beautiful voice and Michael Feuerstack’s guitar lines just melt together in a melancholic, melodic and warm way. Perfect.
