The 2008 Universal Music Fire

2008 Universal Fire

Artists file a lawsuit over a 2008 fire (The Day The Music Burned) that destroyed thousands of master recordings. Universal lied about the losses and received insurance claims totaling over 150 million dollars. The suit, filed by Soundgarden, Hole, Steve Earle, and representatives of Tupak Shakur and Tom Petty, seeks to recover half of any settlement proceeds.
